At least 40 cows have died in a village in west Delhi, India over the past two days, local police said on Saturday.
The deaths were reported from a huge cow farm in the village Ghummanhera, located in west Delhi. Villagers fear an epidemic could spread.
A senior Delhi Police cop said that veterinary doctors were conducting an inquiry into the cow deaths, including a post-mortem of all the dead bovines.
Once the doctors’ report is submitted, further legal action in accordance with the prevalent laws would be taken, the official said.
With about 1,400 cows, mostly abandoned and sheltered at the cowshed, there are around 20 workers to look after them, said a villager.
