A German charity rescue ship picked up 64 migrants stranded off Libya en route to Europe. The Alan Kurdi rescue ship, run by Sea-Eye, is named after a Syrian boy whose body washed up on a Turkish beach in 2015. Fifty people are still missing. Sea-Eye is asking Italy or Malta to open a port to the rescue ship but both refused to accept it. This has led to numerous delays in getting rescued migrants to land while European countries haggle over who will take them in.
