Some 12.53 million entry and exit trips were made across the Chinese border during the Spring Festival holiday, an increase of 11 percent from last year, the National Immigration Administration (NIA) has said.
Of all entry and exit trips, 7.22 million were made by mainland residents who were traveling for private reasons, such as meeting family or going on vacation – up 16 percent from the same period last year.
There were 6.22 million inbound trips, an increase of 9.5 percent year-on-year, while outbound trips registered an annual growth of 12.5 percent to 6.31 million.
The most popular overseas destinations for Chinese travelers over the holiday were mostly in Asia, according to NIA, namely Thailand, Japan, Vietnam, South Korea, Singapore, and Malaysia.
