Hawaii's Kilauea volcano has been pouring lava into the ocean for weeks and gas emissions from the main fissure eruption and at the ocean entry continue to be very high. The eruption is now in its 42nd day, with some fissures spewing lava up to 160 feet (50 meters) high. Lava from the Kilauea volcano has destroyed more than 600 homes since early May.
