The Democratic Republic of Congo's (DR Congo) Constitutional Court rejected runner-up Martin Fayulu's challenge to presidential election results on Sunday.
Judge Noel Kilomba said Fayulu, who launched the court action, had failed to prove that the results announced by the election commission were false.
Fayulu said he was cheated out of victory in the December 30 presidential election, which was won by opposition leader Felix Tshisekedi.
The constitutional court of DR Congo on Sunday confirmed the victory of Tshisekedi in presidential elections after rejecting a legal appeal by the runner-up.
According to the court, Tshisekedi, candidate of the Union for Democracy and Social Progress (UDPS), won the elections with more than 38.5 percent of the vote while his close rival Fayulu, another opposition candidate, garnered around 28 percent of the vote. They were followed by Emmanuel Ramazani Shadary, a candidate for the ruling coalition.
The new president is expected to be sworn in on January 22.
