Europe's largest Hanukkah menorah lit in Berlin: German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Rabbi Teicatel Yuhed lit the first candles of a 10-meter menorah in Berlin on December 2, 2018 to celebrate the beginning of Hanukkah, the eight-day Jewish Festival of Lights. The celebration commemorates the rededication of the Temple in Jerusalem in the second century B.C. after its desecration by a pagan ruler and symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness and of democracy over tyranny.
