The exhibition, “Zao Wou-Ki. Space is silence” will be held in the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris from June 1, 2018, to January 6, 2019, and organized in close collaboration with the Zao Wou-Ki Foundation. It will focus on large-scale paintings, large triptychs in oil and gigantic Chinese ink on paper.

The exhibition features 40 large-scale oil paintings and Chinese ink paintings by Zao Wou-Ki from the mid-1950s to the beginning of the 21st century, including some works that have never been shown before.
Zao's art has now achieved the fame it deserves, but the occasions to appreciate its complexity have been too limited here. This exhibition sets out to consider it in a new light while also inviting the viewer to reflect on the question of large-format paintings.

"This is the first major retrospective of Zao Wou-Ki in Paris since the Galerie Nationale du Jeu de Paume in 2003," said Fabrice Hergott, director of the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris.
The exhibition attracted high attention from the French media and the private viewing for media was almost full on Thursday.
"Visitors can feel the wind, sea, and tree from Zao's paintings," said Francois Devillers, a reporter from Marie-Claire. "According to his breathtaking command of color, independently with the modern and contemporary art, his works show full of emotion," Francois added.
Zao Wou-Ki born in Beijing in 1920, art-schooled in Hangzhou, went to Paris in 1948. Visitors can enjoy this exhibition during June 1, 2018, to January 6, 2019, in Paris.
