April 23 marks World Book Day, an annual event designated by the UNESCO to promote reading, publishing, and copyright. This year, anchors from the China Media Group will take you on a journey through the exquisite works of Shakespeare to explore the beauty of literature and language.
In the ninth episode, chief anchor Wu Manling from China Radio International (CRI)  reads the well-known “The Merchant of Venice,” which is believed to be written between 1596 and 1599. It was classified as a comedy, however, the play is most remembered for its dramatic plots.
Wu Manling is a winner of the highest honor for a radio and television host in China – the Golden Microphone Award. She is also the host of “The Light of Literature” and “Language Café”.
