At least 17 people sustained minor injuries after a 5.7-magnitude earthquake hit Xingwen County in southwest China's Sichuan Province on Sunday.
A preliminary investigation shows that a total of 231 local residences have been severely damaged, while other 15 collapsed.
Up to 1,000 cotton tents have been dispatched to the area in order to accommodate those affected by the quake amid the cold and rainy weather.
The rescue team has already arrived in Yibin City to carry out post-earthquake rescue operations.

As of 7:30 a.m. local time on Monday, six out of 17 injured people were discharged from the local hospital.
Up to 23 aftershocks have been recorded so far and the tremors were also felt in several other cities close to Yibin including Chengdu and Leshan.
