The accident happened in Yagang Village, a rural part of Guangzhou City, when the woman was walking towards a two-story building, next to her companion who was holding a baby in her arms.
According to Mr. Cai, a witness of the accident, they were on their way to a local clinic to get some medicine as the baby had a fever.

But before entering, a white dog, who weighed about 20 kilograms, suddenly fell off from the roof.
“I heard a rather loud sound,” a vendor from a nearby shop said to a local TV station. “It sounds like a big bag of cement has hit the ground.”

The woman lost consciousness after the dog landed on her head. She was sent to Zhujiang Hospital of Southern Medical University, and has since been under observation in the ICU under the support of a breathing machine.
Perhaps because the dogs fall was partially broken by the woman, the animal seemed unhurt and ran away soon after.
Speaking to reporters from local TV station, the neighbors said that the dog looked more like a pet rather than a stray. The surveillance video has been released to the public, but the owner of the dog has still not been found yet.

“We used to see this dog before this accident, but it has never shown up these days,” a neighbor said.
But finding the dog is critical to the injured woman.

According to Chen Weijie, lawyer from a local law office, “if it’s a pet dog, then it’s the owner who should make compensation. But the injured family might have to pay for themselves if it’s a stray dog and they haven't bought relevant insurance.”
The case is still under investigation by local police.
