The upcoming meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Donald Trump at the G20 summit is highly anticipated.
The upcoming summit is scheduled for November 30 and December 1. Ahead of the global gathering, China's Foreign Ministry on Tuesday expressed Beijing's hope that China and the U.S. can work together to achieve positive results.
The meeting of the two heads is happening soon, spokesperson Geng Shuang said during a briefing.
We hope that China and the U.S. will work hard to achieve positive results, in accordance with the spirit of the two leaders' consensus, Geng added.
China has stressed that China-U.S. trade relations are mutually beneficial, Geng said.
He also said China is willing to resolve trade issues through negotiations.
Geng noted the two leaders exchanged views on international issues by telephone a few days ago, adding they agreed to promote China-U.S. trade and to formulate an acceptable plan.
Currently, the economic teams of both countries are implementing the consensus reached by the two leaders, Geng said.
