The leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Kim Jong Un has inspected the construction site of the Wonsan-Kalma coastal tourist area, Korean Central News Agency reported on Saturday.
Kim praised the builders for their efforts and learned more about the details of the ongoing construction work.
He also underscored the importance of providing building materials and equipment for the construction to guarantee its completion in time, and the need to ensure the highest quality of the buildings.
Kim gave instructions for the project to be completed by next year’s Day of the Sun, which marks the birth anniversary of the country's founder Kim Il Sung and falls on April 15.
The DPRK leader reportedly expressed the wish of making the upcoming seaside resort a new miracle in the country, citing the construction story of Ryomyong Street, a landmark property development project that was officially opened in Pyongyang last year.
Great importance has been attached to the Wonsan-Kalma coastal tourist area, with Kim including the project in his 2018 New Year’s address.
"This year, service personnel and residents should join efforts to complete the construction of the Wonsan-Kalma coastal tourist area in the shortest period of time," he said at the time.
