'Red tourism' is a travel priority for upcoming holidays

"Red tourism" and cultural tourism are expected to remain very popular during the upcoming National Day holidays, according to a recent forecast by mapping provider Amap and more than 80 local traffic authorities.
Tian'anmen Square and the Monument to the People's Heroes, Tai'erzhuang ancient town in Zaozhuang, Shandong Province and the former residence of Mao Zedong in Xiangtan, Hunan Province, have been predicted as the top three "red" sites for tourists.
The top 10 sites where tourists get lost easily were also named: the memorial hall for the Tai'erzhuang Battle, Kunming Chi in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, and Juzizhou Islet scenic area in Changsha, Hunan Province.
The area around Hukou Waterfalls, part of the Yellow River in Jixian County, north China's Shanxi Province, will be the most congested area during the holiday, as average speed of vehicles will only be 14km/h.

Xitang ancient town in east China's Zhejiang Province will be the second most congested area, with vehicles moving at an average speed of 20 km/h. Shaolin Temple area in Henan Province will be the third most congested area. 
A traffic peak will appear from 9 a.m. to 12 a.m. on Oct. 1. The return peak will be 4 p.m. ~ 6 p.m. on Oct. 5.
