‍A crested ibis was captured by Xinhua photographer while feeding nestlings at Tianling village of Hanzhong city, northwest China's Shaanxi Province, June 2, 2018.
The crested ibis were thought to be extinct in the wild until the discovery of seven wild crested ibises on May 23, 1981, in Yangxian of Shaanxi Province.

After decades of conservation, the population of the endangered bird species has been growing.
About 2,500 crested ibis live in Shaanxi. Their habitat covers around 14,000 square kilometers.
