Former Hebei legislator gets life sentence for bribery

Yang Chongyong, a former senior legislator of north China's Hebei Province, was given a life sentence for accepting bribes on Thursday by the Second Intermediate People's Court of Tianjin Municipality.
Yang, the former deputy director of the Hebei Provincial People's Congress Standing Committee, took advantage of his position and accepted both money and property worth over 206 million yuan (about 30 million US dollars).
According to the verdict, he has been deprived of his political rights for life and had all his personal property confiscated.
