Qatari citizens have begun crossing into Saudi Arabia, after Riyadh reopened the border for the annual Haj pilgrimage to Mecca. This announcement came shortly after Saudi Arabia's powerful Crown Prince met a Qatari envoy on Wednesday.
It was the first public high-level encounter since the Gulf crisis erupted. Qatar welcomed the decision but called it "politically motivated". The Salwa border crossing between the two countries has been closed since June, when Saudi Arabia and its regional allies cut relations with Doha.
