The Shenzhen Leopards Saturday mauled the Guangsha Lions to register a 101-83 win at the 45th round of Chinese Basketball Association (CBA).
It was a mouthwatering clash between the Shenzhen Leopards and last year's runners-up, the Guangsha Lions that saw an ankle injury to International MVP Courtney Fortson.
Shenzhen forward Gu Quan returned to the court after recovering from an injury and opened the scoring with a three.
The 27-year-old then continued to display his range in the second quarter by drilling another of his six triples.
Gu soon powered into the lane once more and was fouled by Fortson while connecting on the jumper, en route to scoring a game-high 27 points. The Leopards stayed in commanding position after half-time as Yu Dehao laid the ball off to Shen Ziji, who completed the fast-break with a two-handed dunk that extends the visiting side's advantage to seven.
Meanwhile, Ioannis Bourousis reminded everyone that he wasn't a point guard as he tried to handle the ball after Fortson's exit and Li Muhao had his only basket of the night.
Late in the fourth quarter, Yu dished to Lu Yihao for an easy dunk before third-placed Shenzhen cruised to an 18-point victory, securing the Leopards' a spot in the top four, with one game left in the regular season.
Meanwhile, the Lions await tests on Fortson's ankle and will finish sixth unless they beat Nanjing on Wednesday. Elsewhere, Beijing unexpectedly lost to Shanxi in another CBA game of the night.
