China steamrolls Angola to win basketball tournament

Hosts China accomplished brilliant three successive wins to clinch the Kunshan International Championship, a four-team tournament in eastern Jiangsu Province.

China's Red Team used the tournament as a warm-up for the Asian Games, scheduled to begin in just over two weeks. They faced Angola in their last game. Even though China's top players Zhou Qi and Ding Yanyuhang were sitting on the bench again, the team easily overwhelmed the southern African team.

Chinese center Wang Zhelin took charge in the paint as he spun in for a lay-up to help China lead by five in the first quarter.

The hosts expanded on their lead in the second quarter as Wang went in for a big jam. In form, Wang then powered the home side to a lead of 30-13. Fang Shuo hit a jumper for a 17 point lead in the third quarter.

With less than ten minutes to go, Abdusalam Abdurixit went reverse off the glass. The forward from Xinjiang then showed his range with a three.

In the end, China Red won 74-47 and wrapped up the tournament with three straight wins to conclude their warm-up games before the Asian Games. Their next stop is Shenzhen, southern China, for their final preparations before heading to Jakarta, Indonesia, on August 14.
