The mountain fire broke out near Qipan Mountain in Shenyang City in northeast China's Liaoning Province on Wednesday is now under control and almost extinguished.

Preliminary investigation reveals that burning stew by local villagers caused the fire, local authorities said on Thursday.

The fire broke out at about 1:50 p.m. local time on Wednesday and spread fast due to severe winds.
