Lu Chenhui was the overall winner in the men's professional bodybuilding category at the 15th World Super Series, Goldentimes Bodybuilding Grand Prix, China 2018 on Tuesday, becoming China's first champion at the event.
Standing 6 feet 2 inches tall with 21 inch biceps, the 30-year-old professional bodybuilder is nicknamed "God Lu" by Chinese fans.
Lu started bodybuilding in 2002 simply because he felt he was too thin.
He dropped out of school as a teenager and used to work as a cook, security guard and gas station attendant.
However, the dream of being as strong as a Mr. Olympia pushed him to make bodybuilding his lifelong career. Now, he is in charge of a fitness institute while participating in bodybuilding competitions.
He competed in the Goldentimes Grand Prix in 2011 for the first time, and after eight years of effort, he made history, winning the championship and accomplishing his dream.
Before the competition, Lu trained with world famous bodybuilding coach Milos Sarcev, who pushed him in his conditioning, but in more scientific ways.
As a professional bodybuilder, Lu has to eat 2 kg beef and 30 eggs every day, and dehydrates himself before shows. But everything paid off when he finally bagged the champion.
The Goldentimes Bodybuilding Grand Prix was founded in 2003, and currently is one of Asia's highest-level bodybuilding events. In the men's bodybuilding competition, judges score competitors on their symmetry, balance, conditioning, definition and muscularity, among other criteria.
Apart from the men's professional bodybuilding competition, there were other events like men's amateur bodybuilding, men's fitness, Miss Bikini and Golden Model.
