China said on Tuesday it had lodged solemn representations with the United States after U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo accused China of human rights abuse.
The U.S. should stop interfering in China's internal affairs and attacking China's political system, Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said at a regular briefing.
China strongly opposes such accusations and interference, and has lodged solemn representations, he added.
On Monday, Pompeo urged China to make a full public account of the event in the late 1980s.
Geng said no one cares about China and Chinese people's wellbeing than the Communist Party of China, and that China will continue to pursue its development and growth with the system of Socialism with Chinese characteristics.
The CPC will continue to work to improve the living standards of Chinese people and complete the goals for the two centenary goals, he added.
