As its name implies, there were three regimes during the Three Kingdoms Period, respectively Wei, Shu and Wu, that were engaged in fierce power struggles. Their stories were vividly depicted in the Chinese classic novel “The Three Kingdoms”, featuring sophisticated military strategies and notable characters, such as Cao Cao, Zhuge Liang, and Liu Bei.
Xuchang, a prefecture-level city situated at the center of Henan Province, is one of the significant birthplaces of Chinese civilization. Its name originated in 221 when the city was under the reign of the Wei Kingdom in the Three Kingdoms Period.
The Caowei ancient city in Xuchang has been receiving visitors for over a year since its opening on February 8, 2018. Covering 3.9 square kilometers, it is a comprehensive site with historical and cultural demonstration as well as recreational and commercial activities.
