Dunhuang, a city in northwest China's Gansu Province, embraced the first snowfall in this winter on November 14. The snow scenery in local landmark attractions like the Mingsha Mountain and Yueya Spring turned to a fairyland.
Dunhuang is home to the world-renowned Mogao Grottoes.
As a major stop on the ancient Silk Road, Dunhuang has thrived on tourism since the Belt and Road Initiative was put forward five years ago. According to local authorities, Dunhuang received over nine million visitors in 2017, a year-on-year increase of 12.3 percent.
