Finnish President Sauli Niinisto will pay a state visit to China from January 13 to 16 at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lu Kang announced at a regular press briefing on Monday.
China and Finland forged diplomatic relations in October 1950. During Xi's state visit to Finland in April 2017, the two countries confirmed the establishment of a future-oriented new-type cooperative partnership.
Bilateral trade volume between China and Finland reached 7.1 billion U.S. dollars in 2017, according to statistics from China's customs authority.
Niinisto, 70, became Finland's president in 2012 and was re-elected for a second six-year term last year.
