Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for concerted actions to prioritize and push forward the vitalization of rural areas, and called for the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the whole of society to work on rural development.
Rural vitalization is the principal strategy to advance work relating to agriculture, rural areas and rural people in the new era, said Xi, also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee. The strategy was proposed as one of the keys to developing a modernized economy at the 19th National Congress of the CPC last year.
Xi pointed out that rural industries should be re-energized, and that talent, culture and ecology and rural organizations should be invigorated in rural areas in order to realize overall revitalization.
Xi urged authorities to respect the wishes of rural residents, turn their desire for a better life into a force driving rural vitalization, and boost their sense of fulfillment, happiness, and security in the process of the rural revitalization.
