Spanish giants Real Madrid claimed a vital victory in beating Bayern Munich 2-1 in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League's semi-final on Wednesday.
The hosts were on the attack early, but suffered an early blow when Arjen Robben was forced off due to an injury minutes after the kick-off. But Joshua Kimmich quickly made an overlapping run, and cut into the box and fired a shot past Keylor Navas making it 1-nil for Munich.

Later in the half - the Bavarians tried to add their lead, but Mats Hummels missed his chance. The visitors made their opponents pay for missing their chances, right before the break as Daniel Carvajal headed the ball across the box, and Marcelo fired it into the corner from the edge of the 18-yard area.
At half-time, Zinedine Zidane brought on Marco Asensio for Isco. Lucas Vasquez passed into path of Marco Asensio, who made no mistake and beat Bayern custodian Sven Ulreich in the 57th minute.

Real Madrid's 2-1 triumph is their 150th UEFA Champions League win.
Speaking after the game, Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane said, "we had difficulties, especially at the beginning of the match. And we had difficulties in trying to play our game, to impose our style. But we played a better second half. We can be happy and satisfied with what we showed. We didn't play very well off the ball, but in possession we did better. It's not easy to come here. We know this, we are aware of this and we can do better. We know that. But we can be happy and satisfied with the result tonight.'
