China and Japan should make joint efforts to uphold multilateralism, rule-based international order, and free trade system in the context of rising trade protectionism and anti-globalization sentiments, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang told Tadamori Oshima, speaker of the House of Representatives of the Japanese parliament.
During their talks in Beijing on Tuesday, Li said China would take further measures to open up and relax market access, adding that the country welcomes Japanese enterprises to expand cooperation with the Chinese side.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of the signing of China-Japan Treaty of Peace and Friendship, Li noted, calling on efforts to keep the development of bilateral ties on the normal track.
Oshima, who is visiting China from Monday to Friday, said Japan is willing to enhance exchanges with China in legislative organs and other areas and promote stable development of bilateral relations.
Li paid an official visit to Japan in May. He was the first Chinese premier to visit Japan since 2011.
