Promoting  China-Japan friendly relations is in the interests of the peoples in both countries, said Chinese Vice President Wang Qishan while meeting with a delegation led by Toshihiro Nikai, general secretary of Japan's ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) on Friday.
Wang encouraged the two countries to push forward bilateral relations to the right track, in accordance with the four political documents and the important consensus reached by the two leaders.
He noted that  to mark the 40th anniversary of the Peace and Friendship Treaty, the two sides should further increase exchanges, deepen understanding, enhance mutual trust, and expand cooperation.
China is willing to work with Japan to implement the exchange mechanism and gather more positive energy for the development of Sino-Japanese relations, Wang said.
The development of Japan-China friendly relations has contributed to Asia and the rest of the world, Nikai said.
Nikai said that the Japanese side is willing to further consolidate the momentum of Japan-China relations and continue to advance with the Chinese side along the path of peaceful development.
