China's red tourism has seen a boom over the years, as more people visit historical places linked to the revolution led by the Communist Party of China (CPC) from 1921 to 1949.

Zunyi Conference Site
It is well-known that Zunyi is a city in China’s Guizhou Province, which is famous for its ethnic minorities’ cultures. There are many must-see red scenic spots in this city, and the most popular one is the site of the Zunyi Conference.
Zunyi Conference was held in 1935 during the Long March, and it is an important event in the history of the Communist Party of China (CPC). From January 15 to 17 in 1935, the CPC Central Committee held the Extended Conference of the Political Bureau, and it was on this conference that Mao Zedong was elected as the leader for the first time of the CPC.

Situated at No.80, Hongqi Road at Zunyi City in Guizhou Province, the site of the Zunyi Conference was built here in 1955. The two-storied wood-and-brick building was also the general headquarters of China’s Red Army during that time, where visitors could take a look at the offices and living rooms of several former leaders including Zhou Enlai, Liu Bocheng and Zhu de.
In addition, there is a must-see exhibition inside, featuring weaponry and articles used by China’s Red Army and also some related China’s revolution sculptures, making it also a good place for education.
According to Xinhua News Agency, during the first half of 2018, the "red tourism" sector in Zunyi netted a revenue of about 14.22 billion yuan (2.1 billion US dollars), up 16.3 percent year on year. Meanwhile, the Zunyi City receives 18.88 million visitors during the same period, up 12.8 percent year on year.
"Red tourism," featuring visits to historical sites with a revolutionary legacy, has gained great popularity in China in recent years. Apart from Zunyi, Jinggangshan Mountain, Ruijin, Yan'an, and Xibaipo are some of the other popular destinations of "red tourism" in China.
