The presentation of Chinese President Xi Jinping's special envoy Li Zhanshu at the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK)'s military parade on Sunday shows the great importance China has attached to its neighbor, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang said on Monday.
China's top legislator attended the grand ceremony, extending congratulations for the 70th anniversary of the country's founding.

Li, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, also participated in other follow-up events, which showed the DPRK's determination for "further pushing for economic development and improving people's livelihoods," according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
He later personally delivered a letter from Xi to DPRK top leader Kim Jong Un, in which Xi hailed the "remarkable achievements" made by the northeast Asian country.

Geng reiterated China's stance on the Korean Peninsula issue, noting China's firm support of denuclearization as well as the peace and stability of the Korean Peninsula.
China is willing to deepen its friendship with the DPRK, supporting its efforts in economic and social development and other areas.
