This May begins with the nation's first extended four-day May Day holiday – May 1-4. It also marks the best time to travel with better weather condition and fewer crowds.
If you haven't planned anywhere to go yet, CGTN might offer some choices for you. Check out the four tourist attractions worth visiting in May.

Zhangye, NW China's Gansu Province

As a significant commercial port along the ancient Silk Road, Zhangye in northwest China's Gansu Province is home to rich historical sites and stunning wonder of nature – Danxia landform.

In Danxia National Geological Park, the multicolored cliffs of red, yellow, green and blue transform the area into a piece of artwork like an oil painting. There are sightseeing buses that will take you to the four viewing platforms to admire the scenery and take photos.

Yading Nature Reserve in Daocheng, SW China's Sichuan Province

Dubbed as the "last pure land on our blue planet," Yading Nature Reserve in Daocheng, southwest China's Sichuan Province is definitely a hidden gem.
The American adventurer Joseph F. Rock once visited here and wrote in his article, "Where in all the world is to be found scenery comparable to that which awaits the explorer and photographer!"

The three holy snow-capped mountains are must-see sites here, but the magnificent scenery comes at a price of a hard hiking journey.
You'd better get fully prepared for high altitude and sunblock. Also, it's better to follow the established paths instead of the forbidden areas.

Weizhou Island, SW China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region

As China's youngest volcanic island, Weizhou Island in southwest China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region looks like a bow-shaped piece of green jade floating in the sea when seen from above.

The beautiful coral reefs in the waters, rigid pines of the forest and peculiar cliffs make for a sumptuous visual feast. There's also a volcanic park where you can view volcanic rocks of different sizes and shapes.

Dongji Island, E China's Zhejiang Province

Surrounded by the East China Sea, Dongji Island isn't merely an island but refers to a collection of islands in Dongji Town, Putuo District, Zhoushan City in east China's Zhejiang Province.
