Clashes broke out between police and protesters in central Athens on Saturday on the 45th anniversary of the uprising that led to the restoration of democracy in the country after the military junta of 1967-1974. Police said a group of about 300 in the capital erected barricades and threw firebombs and rocks at officers, who responded with tear gas and stun grenades.
