FC Schalke 04 suffered their fourth defeat in the Bundesliga at leaders Bayern Munich and remain pointless at the bottom of the table.
James Rodriguez scored the opening goal for Bayern at the 8th minute, a header following Joshua Kimmich's corner, and then won a penalty for Lewandowski, who sealed the score at 2-0 at the 63rd minute.
Hertha Berlin downed Borussia Monchengladbach 4-2 to move second. Thorgan Hazard's 29th-minute goal was leveled two minutes later by the capital team's captain Vedad Ibisevic, who scored his second in the 63rd minute. Hertha's other two goals were from Valentino Lazaro (34') and Ondrej Duda (73'), and the Foals' other goal was from Alassane Plea (67').

The last season's third-placed team Hoffenheim drew 1-1 with fourth-placed Borussia Dortmund. Christian Pulisic's late goal (84') saved 10-man Dortmund by equalizing Brazilian Joe Linton's first Bundesliga goal (44').
FC Augsburg lost 3-2 to Werder Bremen's to climb to 4th place. Wolfsburg were beaten 3-1 by Freiburg. Stuttgart drew again but this time was 0-0 with the promoted team Fortuna Dusseldorf. Another promoted team FC Nurnberg beat Hannover 96 2-0 at home.
Bayer Leverkusen will play against FSV Mainz 05 on Sunday evening, and the game after that will be the Europa League teams' duel between Eintracht Frankfurt and RB Leipzig.
