Chinese golfer Wu Ashun shot a bogey-free 64 Thursday to take the lead on 7-under after the opening round of the KLM Open.
The 33-year-old professional golfer birdied four of the five par-three holes at The Dutch course in Spijk as he edged longtime clubhouse leader Chris Wood into second place. The 30-year-old English golfer started early in favorable conditions and carded a 65.
"I played well and had a good start during the game. I am satisfied with today's result, no bogey," said Wu.

Wu started playing golf at the age of 17 and won his first title in 2012 at the Toshin Golf Tournament, during which he became the first Chinese golfer to win at the Japan Golf Tour. One year later, Wu defended his title during the Japan Golf Tour.
He joined the European Tour by winning the 2015 Volvo China Open title, making Wu the first Chinese player to win on home soil. Then he captured a second at the 2016 Lyoness Open.
Originally known as the Dutch Open, the century-old KLM Open is played annually in the Netherlands as part of the European Tour.
The Dutch course is famous for its greenery with great differences in heights and speeds. The KLM Open will run from September 13 to 16.
