Indian PM Modi greets Pakistani PM Imran Khan on Pakistan's National Day

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote a letter to his Pakistani counterpart Imran Khan for Pakistan's National Day, confirmed an official source in the Indian external affairs ministry on Saturday.
"The prime minister sends customary messages on national days to other heads of state or government. His message to Prime Minister Imran Khan highlighted the importance of a terror-free Asia," said the official source.
Khan also tweeted about receiving messages from Modi. "Received message from PM Modi: 'I extend my greetings and best wishes to the people of Pakistan on the National Day of Pakistan. It is time that people of sub-continent work together for a democratic, peaceful, progressive and prosperous region, in an atmosphere free of terror and violence.'"

Pakistan's National Day is celebrated every year on March 23.
The letter is significant due to its arrival in the wake of the tension between the two countries, which has been escalating since February.
Regarding the recent India-Pakistan tension, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi Tuesday applauded the constructive role of Pakistan in de-escalating the tension during the first China-Pakistan strategic dialogue in Beijing.

He hoped the two sides could keep their self-restraint, solve their disputes through dialogue and meet each other halfway.
