A bail hearing is expected later today for Meng Wanzhou, the jailed CFO of Chinese tech giant Huawei. The telecoms executive, who is also the daughter of Huawei founder Ren Zhengfei, was arrested in Canada last week at the request of U.S. authorities. The Chinese Embassy in Canada voiced its firm opposition to her detention, calling it a human rights violation. The government of south China city Shenzhen has also joined calls for her release.
