First captive-bred panda of the year born in China

A captive-bred giant panda gave birth on Wednesday to the first newborn of this year in Chengdu, capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province. The female cub, weighing 166.8 grams, was born at Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. According to the base, the delivery was smooth, and the newborn panda cried loudly after leaving its mothers' womb, indicating its good health.
