Poverty is a complicated social and economic issue, which affects every country to varying degrees. However, it's an especially dire problem in Asia, which the World Bank estimates is home to over 40 percent of what it classifies as "extremely poor" people. But, according to Hossain Zillur Rahman – the executive chairman of the Power and Participation Research Center in the Bangladeshi capital, Dhaka – many Asian countries don't recognize its true value.
