China to issue new edition of banknotes, coins from late August

The People's Bank of China will issue its fifth series of banknotes and coins from August 30 this year, with the new notes retaining the same pattern but featuring sharper coloring. This edition will see upgrades to 50-, 20-, 10- and 1-yuan banknotes as well as changes to 1 yuan, down to the small denominations of 5-jiao and 1-jiao coins.
