Tottenham Hotspur have edged past Newcastle United by a solitary goal to ensure a Champions League berth for the next season. It was Harry Kane’s 50th-minute strike helped Mauricio Pochettino’s side a top-four finish in the Premier League with a match in hand.
Spurs are currently 3rd in the league table and are ahead of both Liverpool and Chelsea, who are four points behind the White Hart Lane based club, currently playing at Wembley. Liverpool, who are currently fourth in the table, have a chance to topple Spurs from the 3rd place depending on their respective final games of the season.
On the other hand, Chelsea squandered a chance to finish within the top-four bracket after drawing at home with Huddersfield, who survived relegation.

The Terriers took a surprise lead in the 50th minute as Laurent Depoitre found the net. The Blues saved the blushes after Mathias Jorgensen's clearance struck Marcos Alonso’s face before going into the net.
It was a nightmarish day for another big gun of the Premier League, Arsenal. The Gunners lost for the first time against Leicester since 1994 after the Foxes accomplished a 3-1 win at home against their 10-men rivals in Arsene Wenger’s penultimate game at the helm.
Kelechi Iheanacho drew the first blood for the hosts just before Arsenal defender Konstantinos Mavropanos was given the marching order. In-form Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leveled the score but Jamie Vardy's penalty and Riyad Mahrez's late strike sealed a memorable victory for the home side.
