Chinese food cuts a dash in Israel

Plenty of people in Tel Aviv have enjoyed diverse styles of Chinese foods as the Chinese Food Festival wrapped up on Thursday in the second largest city in Israel.
During the two-day event, Chinese chefs taught local people how to make noodles, Chinese hamburgers and Zongzi, a pyramid-shaped dumpling made of glutinous rice wrapped in bamboo or reed leaves.

“The chefs will teach 19 local chefs to make Chinese food in the next few days. In this way, the local restaurants will do better in meeting the needs of the increasing number of Chinese tourists to this country,” said Wan Ting who is in charge of the China Cultural Center in Tel Aviv.
Meanwhile, lots of Chinese foods including shredded kelp, thick broad-bean sauce and vermicelli were offered for sale during the festival.

Another event introducing relations between Chinese foods and the 24 solar terms will be held from next Monday to Wednesday.
China and Israel have maintained extensive exchanges in recent years, both culturally and economically.
So far, over 30 Chinese enterprises are operating in Israel, creating around 10,000 jobs for Israel, according to latest figures from the Chinese Embassy in Israel.
