The population of wild red deer has risen to 4,000 in a nature reserve in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Once there were only a few hundred red deer left in the Gaogesitai-Hanwula National Nature Reserve due to poaching. With enhanced efforts in wildlife protection and improved local ecological environment, the number has grown in recent years.
