There was a bizarre finish to the women's 3,000 meters at the London Anniversary Games on Saturday when Ethiopia's Fantu Worku stopped when leading with 200 meters to go.
It appeared that Worku thought she had won the race even though there was, in fact, half a lap to go.

Worku had just overtaken Kenya's Lilian Rengeruk to lead when she glanced up at the big screen in the stadium and crossed herself to celebrate the victory.
Then suddenly, she saw all of her competitors continue running. Rengeruk beat Susan Krumins of the Netherlands to win the race. The bizarre howler left race leader Worku to record a DNF.
