A man who lost part of his leg in an accident has been delivering food to pay for a prosthetic limb.
The 38-year-old delivery man, surnamed Wang, has been working in Hangzhou, the provincial seat of east China’s Zhejiang Province, for two years. Although disabled, Wang is able to deliver up to 60 meals and work around 12 hours a day.
He earns more than 5,000 yuan (733 US dollars) a month from his hard work. Wang’s efforts are now paying off as he has almost saved enough to buy the limb.

Wang used to live in his hometown in southwest China’s Sichuan Province, where he lost part of his leg in an accident several years ago. After painstaking efforts of rehabilitation, Wang is able to hop on one leg, sometimes going faster than other people. He eventually relocated to Hangzhou to find a job.
Wang has tried it all, from selling fruits to picking up trash, but still couldn't afford for his prosthetic leg. So he chose to deliver food, which he was told better paid.
Most people think that running around to deliver food requires a physicality that may be beyond Wang, but Qianjiang Evening Post said that he can go up seven floors in just 41 seconds on one leg.

“Some customers were really surprised when they saw me, and they offered me tips, but I refused,” Wang told Qianjiang Evening Post. He even remembered a touching moment from one of his deliveries. “Once, a customer saw me and asked her daughter to bring me a drink from the fridge, and I was so moved.”

Wang continues to save money for a prosthetic limb so that he can one day walk “normally.”
“Although I don’t have enough money, I believe my work brings me success. Every time I come across bad weather, I am excited – because this is when I have more value to customers,” Wang explains, adding that he believes “hardship is the best present bestowed by life.”
