Hainan Airlines will launch a direct flight between the Chinese city of Xi'an and Los Angeles on Monday.
The air route, operated by a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, is the first direct flight linking a northwestern Chinese city and Los Angeles.

Two round trips are scheduled every week, on Mondays and Thursdays. The outbound flight leaves Xi'an Xianyang International Airport at 9:10 p.m. Beijing time and the inbound flight leaves Los Angeles at 11 p.m local time.
With the new flight, Xi'an Xianyang International Airport has air routes to a total of 53 overseas cities.
