Ministers from China and 16 Central and Eastern European countries (CEEC) have met for trade talks in the eastern Chinese city of Ningbo, reaching consensus on trade, investment, infrastructure, finance and e-commerce.
The ministers decided to establish platforms to help medium- and small businesses and promote e-commerce and the digital economy.
China put forward multiple proposals, including suggestions to strengthen trade in services and facilitate e-commerce, which were well-received from the CEEC.
"China and the CEEC are such big entities in terms of economy and trade, and China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative will connect the two sides," Chinese Vice Minister of Commerce Fu Ziying said at a press conference in response to CGTN's question about cooperation potentials between China and the CEEC.
"This ministerial conference serves as a great platform to promote trade and economic cooperation, so I believe the potential is huge. Also, China is taking measures to increase imports, and lower limits on accessing its market. I think this is the biggest area of potential."
The participants also discussed the stability of the global trade environment, with one expressing concern over a possible trade war between China and the US.
Alongside the ministerial conference, the 4th China-CEEC Investment and Trade Expo is held in Ningbo. The event features products from the CEEC, while a fair has been set up to promote investment and cooperation. A conference looking to facilitate cross-border e-commerce is also underway.
