China's top economic planning agency, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) has briefed the media on the April macroeconomic performance this Wednesday.
According to the official, the momentum of positive, stable development was maintained. The supply-demand relationship has tended to improve, which created a good environment for deepening the supply-side structural reform and accelerating the development of high quality goods.
The NDRC spokeswoman, Meng Wei said electricity production grew at 6.9 percent year-on-year, and consumption, at 7.8 percent. The national fixed asset investment increased by 7 percent year-on-year. Total investment was 51.7 billion yuan in the fields of social programs and high-tech sectors.
Meanwhile, seasonal food prices fell slightly, and the average price of 61 food items that are intensively monitored decreased by 1.9 percent, compared with the previous month. The prices of agricultural products and important industrial products remained relatively stable.
Meng also pointed out the situation on reform progress of some important fields. Take protection of property rights for example, the relevant departments have already set up the clear-up work of the regulations and normative documents, which is the first time the country has carried out the specific work on the regulatory and normative documents in this field, and also make the local government deal with a number of property rights disputes that people reflected strongly.
Besides, the two key tasks on the reduction of electricity prices and the evaluation of the implementation of the 13th Five-Year Plan, which covers the period of 2016 to 2020 have also improved. The implementation of tax rebate policy for power prices stayed positively trending, and the price of general industrial and commercial electricity was reduced by 7 percent by the first half of May.
Secondly, the survey evaluation work about implementation of the 13th Five-Year Plan for enterprises and the public was launched this January. The questionnaire evaluation for companies has focused on the understanding of innovative entrepreneurship, high quality development and business environment. It also collects suggestions on education, healthcare, employment and housing from the public.
Meng emphasize that they will further consolidate this quality foundation and strive to build a system in line with international standards and create a fair competition environment by increasing the intensity of supervision.
