Known as "the last remaining pure land", the Greater Khingan Mountain Range is a volcanic mountain range that spans northeast China's Heilongjiang Province and north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. It is the watershed between Inner Mongolian Plateau and Songliao Plain and stretches nearly 1,200 kilometers from northeast to southwest.

Undisturbed for thousands of years, the old-growth forest at the altitude of 1,100-1,400 meters above sea level is now dressed in a veil of white as snow rained down in winter. As the largest forest region in China, the Greater Khingan Mountain Range is home also to the Dahurian larch and the Korean spruce trees.Previous
