Chinese Super League (CSL) side Tianjin Teda had no problems beating third-tier team Zibo Cuju on Sunday in their Tuesday night's Chinese FA Cup match, although the outcome may have been different two days earlier. The 4-1 victory saw the top flight side advance to the last 16.
No foreigners were allowed to play as per the Chinese Football Association (CFA) rules for the premier domestic club tournament.
In the 29th minute, Tianjin were awarded a penalty when Xie Weijun went down under minimal contact from Shen Tong.
Lin Taoyu did a partial Panenka to make it 1-0 Teda.
They doubled the score in the 47th minute when Gao Jiarun flicked on the corner and Xie Weijun volleyed home from a well-worked set piece.
But two minutes into the second half, Tianjin failed to clear the corner and it fell to Ma Dongliang. Zibo were trailing 2-1 at that stage.
In the 52nd minute, Zhang Chiming's pass went in off Sun Yi and Teda extended their lead to 3-1 thanks to the own goal.
Then in the 85th minute, the Tan Wangsong completed the scoring with a lunging volley and Teda sealed the game 4-1.
Elsewhere, CSL side Beijing Renhe edged past hosts Liaoning Hongyun 1-0. Just over seven minutes in, Renhe got on the score sheet when Cao Yongjing's pass was only partially stopped by the keeper, leaving Liu Xinyu an easy finish.
In the 93rd minute, Liaoning had a free kick and sent everybody forward including their goalkeeper Mu Qianyu. Mu collided with Beijing's keeper and knocked it in, but the referee immediately waved his flag for interference and Renhe managed to win 1-0 to reach the last 16.
