Surrounded by mountains two hours' drive north of Beijing lies a town that looks freakishly similar to the American west. Residents here are on vacation every weekends. CGTN's anchor Jeff Moody explored the realness of the tribe, and shared his observations.
According to Jeff, he thought the place a bit fake at first, it's a replica of a town in America, but what he found was just an amazing community spirit. "We've had wonderful meals, and all the residents turned out to welcome me and get to know about me, and we sat along a table with delicious food and different wines, with beautiful mountains behind us. I feel so lucky about what I am being able to do and have wonderful adventures in China. The community spirit there was just amazing," he said.
Talking about the idea behind the success of such a special place, Jeff said that it's because the town caters to people's creativity. It serves as a perfect place for weekend getaways. Many work during the week in Beijing, and head to Jackson Hole during the weekends, it's like their weekend-home. The community gives them a launchpad for their hidden creativities, some join theater groups, some learn to garden, climb mountains, write poetry. People not just go there to get away from the city but also to escape everyday monotony. So, they are back on Monday with more friends, memories and experiences. A great man once rightly said, "One is never too old to learn new things."
